Passion is the Fashion
BLOG
Welcome to my blog, which began as a class project at UNC-Chapel Hill for MEJO 577 (The Branding of Me)! This blog has no specific theme except for PASSION! Subjects may range from sports to design to technology to punctuation to procrastination and more! Upon reading, you will discover what subjects make me want to type a mile-a-minute and how my life is shaped by these interests, experiences, and personal outlooks. Enjoy :)
Yes, you could have made this. But you didn’t. (The truth about modern art.)
I have recently been rewatching the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings trilogies again, which has been long overdue. As I was watching The Fellowship of the Ring (the first installment of Lord of the Rings), I remembered that I actually wrote a college essay prompt for UNC about one of the main characters, Samwise Gamgee. Every time I watch the movies, I am reminded why they are my second favorite set of movies ever. (Star Wars is first, of course.) I am also reminded how I somehow figured out a way to incorporate “LOTR” into my college application.
West, Midwest, South, East: Welcome to my Bracketology.
Whether a “get to know you” game or a personal branding activity, one of my favorite exercises is the classic, “If you were a [insert category], what would you be?” (...or at least some iteration of this question). Not only do I think this exercise reveals a lot about someone’s personality, but I think it is so fun because there are so many categories to pick from: animals...cars...flowers… you name it. I also think this exercise is not just useful for personal identity, but it is a unique way for a business to establish its brand, as well. So what fun things do I identify with? It’s time to find out!

Why Greensboro is the One-and-Only ACC “Tourney Town”
One thing I have treasured about living in Greensboro, North Carolina all of my life is that we are quite often the proud hosts of the ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament, and I have been able to attend many times in my life! Some of my most memorable sports memories were created there, including the rush of having my team (the Tar Heels) win and then scrambling to buy tickets from someone for the next day. In fact, this blog was inspired by my time at the 2021 (limited-capacity) ACC Tournament and how much I have missed the tournament being in Greensboro.
What’s your favorite Color?
My previous blog was all about typography, but now, it’s time for my absolute favorite design element: color! Color is what initially got me into art, design, crafts, and pretty much anything visual. Ever since I can remember, I have been in love with color, and it seems that color plays a part in many parts of my life, whether it be organizational, personal, or consumer-related decisions.
What the Font!
This week in blogging will be a design-oriented week. We’re talkin’ fonts and color! Today’s blog is all about the art of typography! Typography is one of my favorite design elements, and I’ll be diving into my favorite typefaces, fonts, and my personal “typography’s most-wanted” list.
I can’t lie… AirPods are actually worth it.
One thing I have not revealed yet is that I am a huge Apple nerd. Ever since I was a toddler, I have been fascinated by Apple including the company, their products, their history, and their story. I have been excited for every new product they release, and I have been stocking up since I was four years old. When it comes to Apple products, I would consider myself an “innovator” when it comes to the type of consumer I am. However, AirPods are the first product that made me raise an eyebrow.
My Sports Fanatic Profile
Continuing with my blog’s theme (Maris’ passions from mini to humongous), this blog will expound upon one of the biggest pieces of me: my affinity and love for sports. I talked about a fun sports experience I had recently in my first blog, but I have gone far too many posts without mentioning my passion for sports again! Who are my favorite teams? Who are my favorite athletes? What are my favorite moments in sports? Why do I like these sports/teams? It’s time to find out!
