Passion is the Fashion
BLOG
Welcome to my blog, which began as a class project at UNC-Chapel Hill for MEJO 577 (The Branding of Me)! This blog has no specific theme except for PASSION! Subjects may range from sports to design to technology to punctuation to procrastination and more! Upon reading, you will discover what subjects make me want to type a mile-a-minute and how my life is shaped by these interests, experiences, and personal outlooks. Enjoy :)
The Oxford comma should still be used in papers, emails, and all of your writing!
This blog is dedicated to something near and dear to my heart: the Oxford comma. For those that do not know, the Oxford comma is the “optional” second comma when writing a list of three items, as seen in the title of this blog. However, many people leave it off and deem it unnecessary.
Why Ariana Grande is a master storyteller: What the radio doesn’t reveal.
I became an absolute Ariana Grande fan about three years ago. She released her fourth studio album, “Sweetener,” in August of 2018, and I decided to give it a listen. I instantly became addicted, and not because of her amazing, jaw-dropping vocals, which have been always present in her career. I was shocked to find how much I could relate to the album and many of the songs within.
I knew I wanted to write a blog about procrastination… But I kept putting it off.
While pondering different blog topics to write about, I knew that at some point during this semester, I wanted to write about procrastination, since it is something I face quite often. I put it on my list of possible future blog topics to discuss to put a bit more of a positive spin on, and I figured I would get around to it eventually. Well, here I am, knowing I need to write my second blog of the week today and not knowing what to write about. It’s time for the procrastination blog.
A Campaign to Make the Smiley Face Professional
In many of my messages to people, whether professional or casual, I find myself wanting to add a smiley face at the end of my sentences! :) ...Like I just did there. If I am saying something happy, cheerful, or positive, I can’t help but want to add that cute little colon and parenthesis to the end of my thought because it’s what I would be doing in real life if the conversation were happening in-person. I want the recipient of my message to know how I feel, and I want them to feel the warmth I am trying to communicate over my virtual message.
Why I Decorate For Every Single Holiday
Something unique about me most people don’t know? I am obsessed with decorating, and I have a “holiday closet” in my house fully stocked with an arsenal of decor for every holiday and occasion from New Year’s to tropical summertime themes to Thanksgiving. In my previous blog, I discussed my passion for sports, but in this blog, I highlight another large passion of mine: color and design.
How Sports Foster Spontaneity
This week I did something that was very out-of-character for myself… something totally spontaneous. Even though this year I told myself that I wanted to fill my life with more spontaneity, I did not know how that would look. Honestly, I thought I would just end up trying a new menu item at a restaurant. Instead, on Tuesday, the night before the UNC vs. Clemson basketball game, I made plans with my boyfriend to travel from my hometown of Greensboro, NC to Clemson, SC to watch my Tar Heels.
