Why I Decorate For Every Single Holiday
Something unique about me most people don’t know? I am obsessed with decorating, and I have a “holiday closet” in my house fully stocked with an arsenal of decor for every holiday and occasion from New Year’s to tropical summertime themes to Thanksgiving. In my previous blog, I discussed my passion for sports, but in this blog, I highlight another large passion of mine: color and design.
You might be wondering why this year-round decorating habit of mine deserves recognition via a blog post, but I think making the area that you live in and work in refreshing and exciting contributes to one’s productivity and overall happiness. The rooms in my home or apartment are ever-evolving, never the same, and give me a fresh space each month.
I promise I am not the only one who believes in the idea of making the space around you fun or comfortable. In fact, you might have heard of the term “feng shui” (pronounced: fŭng shwāʹ) used in daily life or pop-culture. Feng shui is a practice that originates from ancient China, which encourages the use of energy forces to “harmonize” people with their surrounding environment. It is a concept used by many interior decorators today as a way of emphasizing the importance of the balance in one’s living spaces.
However, you don’t have to be an expert or a historian to give your space that perfect feng shui. In the images at the top of this post, I feature my current decor-of-the-month, which appropriately has a Valentine’s Day theme. My decorations are simple: things that make me happy and release that extra boost of endorphins each day when I wake up. Overall, the practice is fun, which is a big part of who I am and what I try to add to my daily life.
Just as I am exploring my personal brand with these blogs, I love to brand my own personal space with little pieces of decor and objects that represent me and provide a daily boost of joy. I highly recommend for you to partake in rotating the decoration of your spaces around you! There are so many small ways to refresh your space, check them out. You will be surprised by how the design and colors can change your mood and energy!
